Suppose you had painstakingly spent more than 20 long years in laborious research to find a cure for disease...

And at last you discovered an incredibly simple, electronic approach to curing any disease caused by viruses or bacteria... a discovery that could end the pain and suffering of countless millions?

Would the medical establishment then embrace you with open arms and exceeding gratitude?

Not likely.

Think about it...

• For research foundations and universities, it would mean the end of the 'gravy train' — research money for their institutions.
• The great 'protectors of health' in the pharmaceutical industry would want to smash it because it would make drugs obsolete.
• Oncologists, radiologists, and surgeons stand to lose $300,000 (and more) per cancer patient, so they would want it silenced.
• Hospitals and big clinics would now have empty hospital beds, useless staff, and greatly reduced revenue, so why on earth would they want this cure?

Such was the unanticipated predicament of one of the most brilliant research scientists to ever live. This great man discovered a simple, effective, and harmless way for cancer patients to recover without losing their hair, their homes, and their life savings.

This story is truly one of the blackest episodes in human history. But the discovery offers you another strategy for beating cancer.

This man's years of meticulous study and research went up in smoke (literally — you'll see). He became the target of a group of medical saboteurs aimed at making sure nothing stopped the dollars flowing into their wallets.

Who was this man who so threatened their existence that they'd go to any lengths to stop him?

Dr. Royal Raymond Rife studied at Johns Hopkins University and later was awarded an honorary Ph.D. by the University of Heidelberg in Germany, the world's leading scientific nation at the time. Rife spent time in Europe working for the U.S. Government and also for the Zeiss optical company.

From what we know he was largely self-educated in many areas, including optics, electronics, radiochemistry, biochemistry, ballistics, and aviation.

Like many inquisitive, self-taught people, he was willing to look for answers and borrow from various disciplines way beyond the normal, rigid structures typical of science and universities.

It was as if living inside his head was a whole team of scientists and technicians from various fields -- constantly at his disposal. Whenever he needed a new technology to perform a task, he just invented and built it himself. This is what great scientists used to do before the age of pampered university elites.

The World's First Virus Microscope...

By the year 1920 Rife was living in San Diego, California, and had built the world's first virus microscope.

His lectures indicated that he was interested in the biological effects of electromagnetic fields and their possible therapeutic effect. From that point on he created microscopes to observe the effects of electric events on bacteria.

Rife brilliantly analyzed issues in the construction of high magnification microscopes — such as light waves, vibrations, and the challenge of staining a specimen to make it visible without killing it. His aim was to build an effective high resolution microscope himself.

Without getting too technical, he used polarized light to solve the light problem. This innovation allowed him to see density changes via different rotations which appeared as varying shades (also used to identify specific chemical compounds — it's still the basis of today's amino acid designations).

He also needed to avoid limitations of backlighting. So he developed a way to make any biological sample become fluorescent so its internal structure was visible — at the same time bypassing the need for stain.

He created a prototype, and by 1933 had built his model of the incredibly complex "Universal Microscope". It was an astounding feat of engineering, with nearly 6,000 different parts and the ability to magnify objects to 60,000 times their normal size.

His Universal Microscope achieved levels of magnification comparable to today's electron microscopes — unprecedented for his day. But electron microscopes operate in a vacuum, bombarding the specimen with high energy electrons that kill the specimens.

Since Rife could clearly see living bacteria and cells with his microscope, he began experimenting by exposing samples to various electric and magnetic fields, and discovered that he could make bacteria and single-celled organisms react to these fields.

Each different type of bacterium seemed to respond to one specific frequency that destroyed the organism if continued long enough.

Here's the theory: As you approach the critical frequency of a bacterium, it has what you might call a "seizure". It changes shape and becomes agitated... more so as its critical frequency approaches. If you give it a short zap of electromagnetic energy near its critical frequency, it seizes and then recovers. But if you continue to expose it to the critical frequency, the microorganism literally explodes.

Rife used thousands of samples with identical results. But he could not find any frequency that caused human tissue cells to explode the same way.

Did Rife discover a way to selectively destroy bacteria and other pathogens without damaging human cells?

That's the question he asked himself. He reasoned that if he could do this, he could eliminate specific species of invading bacteria — and cure bacteria-caused diseases.

His first task was to catalogue critical frequencies for specific bacteria, thinking that a simple resonance shattered a given strain of bacteria at that strain's specific frequency — much like a wine glass shatters when exposed to a specific high-pitched sound, while the same pitch will do no harm to a wine glass of a different size.

Thus began his list of Mortal Oscillatory Rates (MORs) for specific pathogens.

Simultaneously, he began refining his equipment to produce these specific electromagnetic fields and commissioned engineers to build the machines for him.

Unfortunately, he didn't document the development of this device. But his engineers created an x-ray tube filled with low pressure helium gas — not the vacuum found in a normal x-ray tube — driven by a powerful radio frequency transmitter that made the gas ionize and conduct current.

This became known as the "Rife Beam Ray Device", and allowed Rife to expand his experiments.

Rife tested using live animals, documenting that he was able to apparently cure animals of specific infections with short exposures to the beam ray device. More on what happened to the records of those experiments in a moment...

His associates later told of literally tens of thousands of experiments performed... and how he was so obsessed with his work that he spent days at a time without sleep, meticulously cataloguing each and every result.

Rife's Cancer Cure...

Rife believed he was on to something — a cure for cancer.

He discovered that cancerous tumors in animals shrank and sometimes disappeared at certain frequencies. But the cancer cells didn't seem to explode like the bacteria. Something else was killing cancer cells.

Could there be a virus connection?

Little was known about viruses at that time. The word literally means "filter passing". Thus, a virus was an infective agent so small it could pass through a filter that could block bacteria and other pathogens. Viruses are much smaller than bacteria and can't be seen with light microscopes, the kind you probably used in high school — and the only kind that existed when Rife was doing his work.

Thousands of experiments later, Rife announced that he had isolated a virus that reliably induced cancer in any animal it was injected into.

His conclusion?

Cancer is caused by a virus... and with his machine he could also destroy viruses, meaning he could cure cancer. This conclusion remains controversial, even among experts on alternative cancer treatments. But, as I mentioned earlier, I know honest, capable people who tell me the treatment works. They are trying to raise funds to do research that will confirm what they've seen in individual cases.

In reality, Rife's machine didn't directly kill tumor cells. It killed the virus that infected the tumor cell. And when the virus died, it decomposed into chemical poisons that killed the host cell.

Because of this effect, his "cured" animals often became more ill for a short time after beam ray exposure — but then rapidly recovered.

The chemical poisons that killed the host cell were often the very ones initially responsible for the illness. Symptoms worsened after first exposure until the body could dispose of the toxins. Today this is known as the Jarisch-Herxheimer reaction. It's frequently seen in patients undergoing detoxification — whatever method they use.

Ultimately, Rife identified two viral agents that caused cancer. One caused carcinomas and the other caused sarcomas.

After much more research, Rife concluded that only about 10 different classes of pathogens were responsible for nearly every disease... but that every pathogen was capable of morphing into a different form of pathogen. In other words, a bacterium could morph into a virus or even a fungus, according to Rife. This view is extremely controversial. The evidence we have is too limited to say one way or the other.

Rife's Publicity — A Promising Cure for Disease...

Throughout this time, Rife periodically released information to the press about his work. He demonstrated his microscopes, getting enthusiastic reviews from those doctors and researchers allowed to see them.

The San Diego Union newspaper featured a front-page article about his microscopes on November 3, 1929. Many other articles followed. He reported that he hoped to be able to cure diseases like cancer.

In 1931 he announced his results to doctors and university medical departments. A stream of eminent doctors and researchers eagerly endorsed his work. Among them was Dr. Millbank Johnson, president of the Southern California branch of the American Medical Association and member of the board of directors of Pasadena Hospital.

Dr. Johnson sponsored a banquet for Rife at his estate in Pasadena, attended by 44 of the day's most prominent medical figures. They honored him as the man who found "The End to All Diseases".

Two years later, in early 1934, Dr. Johnson arranged formal clinical trials of the Rife Beam Ray device.

Sixteen cancer patients from Pasadena County Hospital volunteered to be treated with the machine, and were re-tested for cancer after three months. Rife reportedly treated patients with 3-minute exposures to the beam ray device at the frequency he'd found to be effective for killing cancer-causing microbes. The patients were treated once every three days.

Initial treatments were suspended due to severe Jarisch-Herxmeimer reactions. But in three months all 16 patients were still alive. Doctors were amazed that 14 of them showed no signs of cancer and were pronounced clinically cured. Four weeks later the other two patients were also pronounced cancer-free. The total success rate was 100 percent.

Doctors were astounded — it was a major breakthrough.

And Then the Trouble Started...

Dr. Johnson introduced Rife to Dr. Mildred Schram of the International Cancer Foundation in Philadelphia. When hearing of Rife's work, Dr. Schram demanded experiments which Rife insisted could never work. Rife refused to have any further contact with the foundation.

Meanwhile, the results of the 1934 clinical trial were never published.

By 1937, there was plenty of evidence to support Rife's claims, but doctors who had passionately embraced his work were now being pressured by medical authorities.

Was It a Conspiracy?

In 1938 a new player emerged on the scene — Dr. Morris Fishbein, editor of the Journal of the American Medical Association, a rich and powerful man who controlled the AMA and had powerful political connections.

It's interesting to note that Dr. Fishbein graduated from Rush Medical School, interned for only six months, and never practiced medicine a day in his life, according to The Cancer Cure that Worked, by Barry Lynes.

The power brokers of the AMA were essentially second-rate doctors who used the organization to gain power and make money. The public good was not their top priority (to say the least). The New York Times obituary for Dr. Fishbein in the 1970s reported that he had entered medicine as a young man because he perceived the "power" a doctor had. That statement is a scathing indictment of Fishbein. It's extraordinary coming from the New York Times, a staid, respectable newspaper back in that era.

Dr. Fishbein offered to buy the exclusive rights to the beam ray technology. Rife refused.

No one knows the details of the offer, but Dr. Fishbein earlier had made a similar offer to Harry Hoxsey, the creator of an herbal cancer cure. Hoxsey's treatment is now famous among supporters of alternative cancer treatments. The Fishbein offer called for him, not Hoxsey, to receive all profits for nine years, and thereafter, at Fishbein's discretion, he might pay 10 percent of future profits to Hoxsey. When Hoxsey refused, Fishbein destroyed him, conniving to get him arrested 125 times in 16 months. Hoxsey was ruined.

When Rife — like Hoxsey — refused Fishbein's buyout offer, AMA officials visited doctors who used Rife machines and threatened them with a cease and desist order. Many caved in and allowed the machines to be destroyed.

Those who refused were arrested or had their equipment and notes seized and destroyed by the FDA.

"Doctor" Fishbein, claiming Rife's treatment was a fraud, refused publication of any reference to Rife's work in AMA journals, and threatened other medical journals if they failed to follow the AMA's example.

Most of the doctors who had attended Dr. Johnson's banquet for Rife in 1931 denied they had ever heard of Rife (despite photographs of them with Rife at the banquet).

Lawsuit...

Meanwhile, Philip Hoyland, an engineer at the corporation Rife formed to market his devices, sued Rife, saying that he and not Rife had invented the machine. This was despite the fact that Rife had published articles about his work long before 1937 when Hoyland was brought on.

Hoyland produced a non-working "Rife" machine and sent it to customers. It was alleged that outside parties, perhaps a major drug company, funded Hoyland's legal costs. In other words, he may have been merely a pawn for powerful interests that wanted to destroy Rife.

Rife eventually won the lawsuit, but the legal costs bankrupted him and put him out of business.

Murder and Intrigue...

At the same time, Rife's laboratory was hit with a wave of thefts. His microscopes were vandalized, and finally the lab was burned to the ground in an arson attack. Most of his years of notes were destroyed in the fire. No one was ever caught or prosecuted.

A Dr. Nemes, who established an independent lab and confirmed some of Rife's results, was killed in a lab fire and all his notes and research were lost. Murder? As the phrase goes, "we report, you decide".

A third lab working to confirm Rife's work, the Burnett Laboratory, also mysteriously caught fire and burned to the ground with all research destroyed.

In 1940, two doctors who supported Rife were raided by federal officers who confiscated their equipment and notes. They were both later found dead, supposedly having committed suicide by poison.

Fast forward to 1944... Dr. Johnson arranged a press conference to announce a cure for cancer.

There were rumors that Dr. Johnson had been approached by "representatives of the pharmaceutical industry" with offers of money to suppress information about Rife's work. Surely he was also pressured by Fishbein.

Mysteriously, the night before the press conference, Dr. Johnson suddenly died and all his notes were pronounced "lost" by executors of his estate. Though his death was ruled accidental, there are rumors to the contrary.

One of Rife's most ardent and influential supporters, Dr. Arthur Kendall, suddenly accepted an unprecedented "pension" of $250,000 (the equivalent of millions today) and reportedly left the United States.

George Dock, part of Rife's clinical team — also highly-respected — accepted a huge unanticipated gift to retire early.

Many Rife supporters to this very day believe these acts were the work of drug companies anxious to suppress anything that might make their lucrative drug treatments obsolete.

The FDA and AMA continued to hound Rife, and he suffered a steady decline into alcoholism.

In 1971 Rife was admitted to the hospital, and reportedly died following the accidental injection of a massive overdose of Valium.

I don't want to put too much emphasis on all this alleged arson, murder and bribery. We'll never know for sure what happened, and at some point conspiracy theories become a distraction. The known facts are bad enough to indict (so to speak) conventional medicine and everyone connected with it.

A scientific establishment that was truly curious and devoted to the truth would have been keenly interested in Rife's inventions and discoveries, even if they later turned out to be less than claimed. That's why we conduct research. That's what scientists are SUPPOSED to do.

I've seen enough of this crowd (present-day version) to know they're capable of exactly the sort of behavior Rife's supporters allege. It happens all the time — it's happening right now. If you think these stories about long-dead figures are unbelievable, take a look at a book called Desperation Medicine for a current account of similar shenanigans. It's written by Ritchie Shoemaker, himself an M.D. who ran into a blatant cover-up of inconvenient medical discoveries. He's still alive and his story ain't no rumor.

All but forgotten...

Rife's work was nearly forgotten, but for the associates who lived on, such as Crane, who helped him late in his life. Crane was later arrested and spent three years in prison for promoting Rife's work.

Even Rife's microscopes were forgotten. And newspapers somehow lost the specific editions containing reports of Rife's work.

You have to ask yourself... If this didn't work, why were these people so anxious to suppress Rife's research?

Interest in Rife technology resurged in 1986 after the publication of a book called The Cancer Cure that Worked. Modern researchers tried to build duplicates of the original beam ray devices, though apparently none of them are truly like the original.

Many people are convinced that the device works, though many aren't willing to speak openly about it.

Even most of the people we contacted about this technology or similar devices for cancer requested anonymity and were reluctant to say much.

Cancer patients we spoke with said they used "Rife-like" machines for cancer along with numerous other strategies, making it difficult to determine how effective each strategy is by itself.

No one was willing to declare that a "Rife-like" machine cured them of cancer — only that it was one of the things they used, and that they were still alive years later... in one case, 16 years later.

Until such time as controlled testing can be done openly, whether in the U.S. or abroad, it'll be difficult to make a definitive statement about its effectiveness.

At this writing, your options to use this technology, whether for cancer or other health conditions, are quite limited.

You can — either individually or with a small group of like-minded people — purchase a machine for private use.

Or you can leave the U.S. for treatment in places such as Mexico. One interviewee told me he thought you could get this treatment in Germany and Israel, but I have not been able to confirm that.

Since it is not an 'approved' therapy, you cannot go to a doctor's office in the U.S. to use it. While perfectly legal for veterinarians to use to save the lives of animals, this frequency therapy remains taboo for orthodox medicine — surely due to the threat it poses to the bottom lines of big pharmaceutical companies.

But it is your privilege to experiment on yourself with this therapy. At worst, it's harmless, and it can be used in conjunction with other alternative therapies. That's the only real way to tell if it will work for you.

The cost, design and quality of modern portable "Rife-like" frequency instruments vary widely, with prices ranging from $1,500 to upwards of $5,000.

Cost is not always an indication of quality

Some of the most expensive units have serious technical limitations and, at the other extreme, some of the inexpensive models give only minimal and inconsistent results.

Newer technologies apply the frequencies and their harmonics to the body through the use of hand-held, footplate, or stick-on electrodes.

A distributor from Future Tech Today told me that there are two types of amplifiers — very different from each other. The less effective ones try to simulate Rife's results using solid state technology.

A manufacturer and a practicing doctor confirmed that you should prefer a machine with vacuum tube technology rather than the modern solid state technology that's now standard in almost all electronic equipment. Solid state tech didn't exist in the 1930s, when Rife designed his machine. He used vacuum tubes.

Proper frequency exposure and thorough flushing of the body with copious amounts of clean pure water is critical to achieve the best results.

Books are available about using this strategy for cancer (check amazon.com). You can also separately purchase books with frequency listings from producers of the machines.

Exercise caution. . .

While electrotherapy devices evidently have a greater effect on bacteria than on normal body cells, it would be a mistake to assume that your body's cells can never be damaged by these effects, if you use inappropriate frequencies. All your cells rely on an extremely complex system of electrochemical reactions to operate. So be sure to do your homework before undertaking the treatment.

Of course, you may be willing to accept a degree of "collateral damage" (speaking in military terms) when dealing with a life-threatening disease like cancer. You're the only person who can weigh the risks you're willing to take.

Keep in mind that traditional allopathic therapies of surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy also have their "fair share" of collateral damage, to say the least.

Remember that I present this article as a source of information only. I'm a journalist, not a scientist, much less a health caregiver.

Lastly, as is true of so many things... an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
