Bee products yields potent anticancer treatments

Bee products yields potent anticancer treatments about undefined

A friend of mine recently suggested that honey bees should be called the compounding pharmacists of the insect world. They formulate a potent collection of anti-cancer, health-boosting natural substances that have been used by traditional healers for thousands of years.

And in a familiar turn of events, modern researchers once again have confirmed the validity of medicines ancient doctors used. Studies now show that the mixtures of natural plant materials bees put together are helpful for both their own health as well as for humans.

Substances like bee pollen, which originates in the pollen bees pick up from the plants they visit, and propolis, a kind of gunky glue made from botanical materials and bee saliva, help the insects fight off parasites and microbes. Here’s how you can put these natural medicines to work for you. . .

Propolis in particular is attracting research into its health benefits.

Bees make propolis from the resinous secretions of tree bark, flowers, buds and botanical latex to form a gluey substance they use to seal up, reinforce and protect their hives. Propolis is a powerful disinfectant that kills microbes that might otherwise infect the bees.

Bees of almost every species and location posses their own special variety of propolis. Each type depends on what trees are growing in the area near the hive. In general, though, the chief sources of propolis raw material include resins from oak, birch, pine, poplar, willow, coin vine, eucalyptus, chestunt and sweet gum.

To traditional healers, the powers of propolis are not exactly a secret. This substance has been harvested around the globe for quite a while. Healers gather propolis everywhere from China, India, Iraq, Turkey and Greece to Mexico, the Caribbean, Egypt, Tunisia and Portugal.

Fights cancer many ways

As modern scientists play catchup in investigating propolis, one of the most remarkable areas of research is in the way proplis fights cancer. Scientists believe this versatile bee product can:1

  • Perform as a powerful antioxidant that limits damage to cells and cell membranes.
  • Change the physiological enviroment around cancer cells in ways that limit their growth and spread.
  • Eliminate cancer stem cells – the hidden menace that can make cancer keep coming back again and again after it's been treated with surgery or drugs.
  • Sharpen the immune system's ability to spot emerging cancer cells and dispose of them.
  • Limit the growth of new blood vessels that supply nutrients to tumors.2

Making cancer cells destroy themselves

Some of the most recent research has looked into how propolis can induce cancer cells to self-destruct in a process I've often written about called apoptosis.

According to researchers, when a substance like propolis causes cancer cells to do themselves in via apoptosis, the process is much less damaging to the body than simply killing cancer cells with drugs. The reason: when cancer cells are damaged and killed by an outside agent, the membrane of the dying cell ruptures and releases substances that damage surrounding cells.

The presence of debris from the dead cells then increases inflammation in the region. This brings in a flood of immune cells – and their accumulation can lead to further tissue damage.3

In contrast, apoptosis is a much more benign, contained series of changes that leave other adjacent healthy cells unharmed. During apoptosis, the dying cancer cell shrinks and the remains of the dead cell stay surrounded within protective membranes. Eventually, those membrane-contained fragments are swept up and consumed by a variety of traveling immune cells that break them down and eliminate them without stimulating troublesome inflammation.

Beating breast cancer

A number of studies of how propolis can fight breast cancer have found that each of the different types of propolis from different parts of the world produces a multi-pronged attack on tumors.

Brown Cuban propolis has been shown to restrict the ability of breast cancer cells to reproduce – an effect that was only partially due to making some of the cells engage in apoptosis. The scientists found that propolis slowed cancer growth by interfering with what is called the "G1 phase of the cell cycle." This is the first of four steps cells undertake in order to replicate themselves.

During the G1 phase, the cells prepare the proteins that are necessary for making a new cell. But the Cuban propolis stopped this step in its tracks so the cancer cells couldn't continue their reproduction.4

Tests of extracts from Chinese propolis found similar results. It interfered with the cellular changes cancer cells have to undergo to reproduce, induced apoptosis in many cells and also restricted the ability of tumors to create new blood vessels that could supply them with nutrients.5

Unique ingredient is potent against prostate cancer

A substance commonly found in propolis -- caffeic acid phenethyl ester, or CAPE (which I have discussed before6) -- is now being investigated as a treatment for prostate cancer.

Research at the University of Chicago Medicine shows that CAPE stops the growth of early-stage prostate cancer by turning off the cancer cells’ system for locating nutrients.7

The Chicago lab tests showed that a daily mild dose of CAPE stops tumors from growing even if it doesn’t kill the cancer cells.

"After several weeks, if you stop the treatment, the tumors will begin to grow again at their original pace," says researcher Richard B. Jones. "So it doesn't kill the cancer, but it basically will indefinitely stop prostate cancer proliferation."

The researchers found that even a small amount of CAPE, one that could be safely fed to lab animals indefinitely, effectively halted the growth of prostate cancer.

An analysis of what was happening at a cellular level revealed that these small amounts of CAPE squelch the activity of proteins that help each cancer cell sense nearby nutrients. Without this sensory mechanism, the cells act as though nutrients are unavailable and stop growing and replicating.

"It appears that CAPE basically stops the ability of prostate cancer cells to sense that there's nutrition available," Prof. Jones says. "They stop all of the molecular signatures that would suggest that nutrition exists, and the cells no longer have that proliferative response to nutrition."

Prof. Jones believes that his work can speed the mainstreaming of CAPE as a cancer treatment since his team has explained the mechanism that allows it to stymie prostate cancer.

Bees are in trouble

Ironically, these insights into the benefits of propolis and other bee products are arising at the same time as bees are in danger of being wiped out. Our mania for using pesticides and herbicides on farms and in our yards is putting extreme stress on these helpful insects.

That’s an important reason you should buy and consume organic food – it’s grown and produced without the chemicals that not only kill the plants and flowers bees need to live and feed themselves, but may directly kill bees and other pollinating insects.

And don’t spray your yard with poisons either. Without chemical treatments on your property, your health will improve as well as that of beneficial insects.

Besides, there are other benefits. This year after I convinced a friend to stop spraying and treating her yard, she found that her blueberry bushes suddenly yielded a surprisingly large crop. Maybe it was because more pollinating insects could now safely get to those bushes. And blueberries – like many other fruiting plants – depend on pollinators like bees to stimulate their fruit production.

Have government regulators deprived us of another miraculous cancer treatment? It sure looks that way. If you missed this important news in the last issue, we’re rerunning it just below.

Another Possible Cancer Cure
Has Been Suppressed

Today’s subject is a "magical" protein molecule that empowers your body to cure itself – or a fraud. Frankly, I don’t know which. And it may be academic because it’s not available now, as far as I know. But I want to report on GcMAF in the interest of giving you a complete picture of what’s happening in the world of alternative treatments.

In healthy people GcMAF molecules are said to be the key "directors" of the immune system. Certain hard-to-cure diseases including cancer neutralize the function of GcMAF. If true, then restoring levels of GcMAF would constitute a powerful therapy.

One hundred eighty scientists have published 73 research papers on GcMAF in the U.S. National Library of Medicine. This is actually not a large number of articles, but it indicates the substance is not unknown.

Unfortunately, it’s hard to say if or when we’ll know more, because the UK’s equivalent of the FDA has shut down production and seized all stocks of the molecule.

Let’s look at the recent research about these critical proteins. . .

The secret to curing cancer:
You've been throwing it in the trash!

In 1921, a British doctor discovered that members of a remote native tribe were almost totally cancer-free. But when members of this tribe move away from their native land and change their diet, they get cancer just like anyone else.

It's all thanks to a food most of us throw away as waste — a food that's rich in amygdalin — what most of us call Laetrile. Click here now and watch a video presentation about this cancer breakthrough. One cancer expert calls this overlooked food "the key to curing AND preventing cancer" — and you can benefit now — without going to a doctor or buying expensive supplements.

This little throwaway food tastes great. Bill Clinton, of all people, eats a certain amygdalin-rich food all the time, and so can you. Click here now to watch the video!

GcMAF is a human protein your body makes to keep disease in check. All seven billion healthy humans make their own supply of GcMAF (the acronym from "protein derived (Gc) Macrophage Activating Factor.")

Healthy people produce cancer cells every day. But most of us don’t succumb to the disease because we produce enough of our own GcMAF to attack these alien, defective cells.

GcMAF is said to have at least 11 modes of action in your body that we know of so far. (Some sources say we now know of 20.) Six of those are attacks on cancer, three on the brain, and two on cells. GcMAF tells macrophages to gobble up cancer cells and viruses.

Without GcMAF we would all have died of diseases as children.

Beware the evil enzyme that makes
a mess of your immune system

But as in every novel with a villain, there’s an "evil enzyme" called nagalase that blocks production of GcMAF and causes immunodeficiency.1 This allows viruses and malignant cells like cancer to run roughshod over your immune system.

Nagalase enzymes neutralize your immune system by preventing GcMAF production.

High nagalase levels have been found in the blood of patients with many types of cancer.2,3,4

Nagalase is a matrix-degrading enzyme secreted by cancer cells during the process of tumor invasion.

Levels of nagalase vary by type, size, and stage of the cancer and by degree of invasiveness.5 Some studies show the enzyme’s activity is directly proportional to tumor burden. But increased nagalase activity is not found in the blood of healthy people.6

So if you have cancer or certain other diseases, you can assume you have high nagalase.

How about if you don’t have a disease diagnosis but want to know your nagalase levels? There are a couple labs in Europe that can test for this enzyme. But it can take weeks to get your results.7

Just so you know, a healthy level is below 0.65 nmol/min/mg.

What exactly does GcMAF do?

GcMAF suppresses inflammation and viral infections. In many areas it is also better than antibiotics. As you might guess, GcMAF can tamp down the activity of nagalase.

If your immune system is depressed, GcMAF can help rebuild it.

Researchers also say that GcMAF. . .

  • Stops blood flow to tumors
  • Activates macrophages – which help destroy cancer cells
  • Tells cancer cells to commit suicide (apoptosis)
  • Turns cancer cells into healthy ones
  • In lab-cultured cells, reduces metastasis
  • Boosts energy level in your mitochondria
  • Increases your brain’s metabolic activity

Dr. Nabuto Yamamoto, formerly a Professor of Biochemistry at Temple University Medical School in Philadelphia, conducted much of the groundbreaking research on this therapy. Reportedly, several of his articles have been retracted by the journals in which they were published.

I have a low level of trust in the medical and scientific establishment, so I don’t consider this the last word on the subject. As I said at the outset, I’m not in a position to weigh the conflicting claims.

Dr. Yamamoto treated 16 metastatic breast cancer patients with a single injection of GcMAF per week for 22 weeks. It cleared the cancer, and patients were still well four years later.

In another study, all 16 metastatic prostate patients became cancer free and remained so even seven years later.

Finally, all eight metastatic colorectal cancer patients were free of cancer after 48 weeks and were still cancer-free seven years later, confirmed by CT scans.

It sounds hard to believe, but he reportedly achieved a 100 percent remission rate in metastatic cancer patients. Normally the survival chances of a metatstatic cancer patient are slim to none if they rely on conventional treatments.

Because of its immune-building properties, GcMAF’s advocates say it can help a large number of chronic diseases, including chronic cases of acne, cirrhosis of the liver, herpes, kidney disease, autism, depression, colitis, Crohn’s, fibromyalgia, hepatitis, chronic fatigue syndrome, and osteoporosis.

Researchers also say it can halt deterioration in those with Parkinson’s, MS, dementia, and ALS, and help patients with lupus, arthritis, and various allergies.

The GcMAF "super-molecule" as a replacement therapy

If your body doesn’t produce enough GcMAF, you may be able to get it as a replacement therapy, but it won’t be easy.

And don’t expect to hear about it from your doctor.

The most likely reason the treatment has been suppressed is the giant pharmaceutical companies and their power brokers in Washington – and elsewhere. It’s not just U.S. regulators who bar your access to this therapy.

In February, 2015, UK regulators raided the facilities of ImmunoBiotech, GcMAF’s maker, terrorizing employees, and seizing 10,000 vials of the product. Cancer patients on Guernsey, (one of Britain’s Channel Islands where the plant is located) who were taking the supplement were alarmed and feared their cancer would return without it.

Apparently, hundreds of anecdotal reports of reversals of cancer and autism pose a threat to those companies that reap billions from conventional therapies.

Restarts your immune system within minutes

When supplemental GcMAF is given, it is said to restart the immune system within minutes, spurring attacks on disease. Within three weeks your immune system is rebuilt to above normal strength.

According to its advocates, it’s important to continue the GcMAF until your nagalase levels drop below 0.65 (healthy normal levels), otherwise your cancer may return.

The beauty of this treatment, of course, is that it’s a potent immune enhancer. And since the healthy body abounds in natural GcMAF, practitioners say the therapy has no side effects.

There are a couple things that go hand-in-hand with the treatment… a special blend of probiotics (similar to human colostrum), unsaturated fatty acids (specifically oleic acid) and very high doses of vitamin D3.

These are the nutrients your body naturally uses to create GcMAF proteins. If you’re deficient in them, you’ll have a hard time producing GcMAF. And it follows that you’ll be hindered in cleaning up cancer cells, attacking tumors, eliminating viruses, and staying healthy.7

Many drugs, including LDN (low dose naltrexone) interfere with the action of GcMAF. LDN is itself an effective alternative cancer treatment but it doesn’t go well with this one.

You used to be able to get GcMAF treatment in European clinics, but they appear to have been shut down after the UK raid. There may be new clinics in Europe at undisclosed locations. We have no confirmation of that.

When we first wrote about GcMAF a little more than a year ago (Issue #522), we were hoping to interview doctors at a clinic in the Bahamas that offered GcMAF. They refused to speak with us, possibly because they don’t want publicity or fear we are government agents.

Let’s hope this suppressed but promising treatment turns out to be as wonderful as its adherents claim -- and that regulators will actually allow us to have it.
