This food is as close to a ‘miracle pill’ as you can get.
Sadly, you probably think it’s just for babies… or so you’ve been led to believe. But once you read about its miracle-like properties, you may change your mind.
Because it’s a substance anyone should consider if they’re battling cancer.
Colostrum – or mother’s first milk – does it all… seriously.
According to Dr. Daniel G. Clark, author of the book Colostrum, Life’s First Food, it…
- Rebuilds your immune system
- Destroys viruses, bacteria, and fungi
- Helps you lose weight and burn fat
- Increases bone density and lean muscle mass
- Slows down aging
And it also fights cancer.
Not just for babies anymore…
Nursing newborn babies (and other mammals) drink colostrum for about 72 hours after birth; then the amount of colostrum in the mother’s milk falls off. Remarkably, first milk, because it’s rich in colostrum, is actually a different color than later milk.
Colostrum contains white blood cells that destroy microbes in a baby’s stomach, kick-start its immune system, and prevent cancers.1
These same benefits can be a boon for adults, too.
Colostrum’s primary cancer-fighting power comes from a special molecule with a long, complicated name: tumor necrosis factor-related apoptosis inducing ligand (TRAIL, for short).
TRAILs contain death receptors that seek out and latch onto cancer cells and kill them.2
We all have TRAILs in our blood. But colostrum has 400 times more TRAIL than your blood, making it a much more potent cancer-killer. (As a side note, baby formula has no TRAIL.)3
This is why breastfeeding reduces the risk of certain childhood cancers, like lymphoblastic leukemia, Hodgkin’s disease, and neuroblastoma.4 It also reduces mothers’ risk of breast and ovarian cancers.5
I’ve heard one or two anecdotes of cancer patients going into remission just because they took colostrum. But I wouldn’t gamble on colostrum alone. Combine it with other anticancer supplements.
There’s additional good news: colostrum isn’t just for physical health. It’s a boon for emotional health as well.
According to the National Cancer Institute, about one-fourth of all cancer patients are depressed. Colostrum regulates your serotonin and dopamine levels – your feel-good hormones – which improves your mental health and pulls you from the pit of depression.6
The companion do-it-all protein
One of the most powerful proteins found in colostrum is called lactoferrin.
Lactoferrin activates and regulates your immune system,7 reduces inflammation,8 hunts down free radicals,9 heals wounds and grows bones,10 and protects you from pathogenic bacteria,11 viruses, fungi, and protozoa.12
It also annihilates cancer.13
According to a study published in the Journal of Biochemistry and Cell Biology, lactoferrin prevents colon, esophagus, and bladder cancers from growing in lab rats.14 Other clinical studies show that it destroys breast,15 stomach,16 and lung cancer cells.17, 18
That’s in addition to keeping cancers from metastasizing.19
Why is lactoferrin such a warrior against so many cancer foes?
Well, for one thing it binds to iron, which many pathogens – including cancer cells – feed off of.20 Basically, lactoferrin shuts down your iron receptors, causing cancer cells to starve to death.
It also starves the bad bacteria in your intestines, allowing good bacteria to thrive.21 And the bacteria in your gut affect your overall health in a profound way.
A ‘leaky’ gut makes you a sitting duck for cancer
By some estimate, more than 85 percent of the Western population has what’s now known as leaky gut syndrome.22 Research continues to link leaky gut more and more closely with cancer – which is scary, because so many people are clueless that their gut is leaking.23
So, what is leaky gut syndrome anyway?
Undigested food particles, pathogens, antibiotic residues, pesticides, and other toxins wear down your intestinal walls, permitting the toxins and undigested or partially digested food particles to pass through into your bloodstream.24 Candida overgrowth – a yeast infection – is probably the most commonly cited reason for a perforated gut that allows food and toxins to pass through.
In this environment, cancer can multiply pretty much unchallenged.25
But colostrum is a godsend for healing your damaged gut.26
The proline-rich polypeptides in colostrum fight infection and reduce inflammation, helping your body relax, refocus, and rebuild your intestines.
Cherry-pick your best supplement options
You can purchase both colostrum and lactoferrin as supplements in powder or capsule form. Most are made from cow (or bovine) colostrum.
Choose a brand that verifies bioactivity in every batch. Also, limit your choices to supplements that are organic and free of pesticides, herbicides, hormones, steroids, antibiotics, and other chemicals. Anything less may actually do more harm than good.
The recommended daily dose ranges from one to two grams per day, taken with 8 to 12 ounces of water. For preventive purposes or for children, use less.27
